Singer, Songwriter, Storyteller

I am retired. I am interested in writing music and singing songs that have relevance to, and deal with issues of importance to, a more mature audience dealing with subjects such as retirement, enjoyment of retirement’s freedoms, death of friends and family members, meaning of life, realization of their own mortality, spirituality, long term and new love, changes in careers, reminiscences, loneliness and insecurity.

I have always loved singing, but put it aside for family and career from ages 20 to 70. I resumed voice lessons at 70, and now starting my ninth decade, sing as a hobby supported by a strong group including a co-songwriter/songwriting coach who concentrates on musical compositions for our songs, a voice teacher, very talented musicians, wonderful backup singers, and a highly professional studio that records and arranges my songs.

I belong to singing groups, do occasional on-line performances for mature groups, and am putting together some 30 to 60 minute music podcasts of relevance to mature listeners. My voice is a resonant baritone. I believe my vocal presentation is unique, drawing inspiration from a combination of Elvis and Leonard Cohen with occasional tinges of  Sinatra and George Jones. I tend to put my own interpretation on lyrics and music sometimes frustrate musicians who play songs exactly as they are written. I have over 50 studio recorded songs, mostly covers, and intend to do more. I also intend to add 10 or more self written songs each year.

I describe my songs primarily as ballads. With jazz and country influence.
